Discrimination of any kind is ugly, bad and sad. As the world became aware of racial and colour/nationality discriminations being an unhealthy practice, probably we as this generation have improved on that front. But day to day discrimination based on merit, beauty, class still exists not just out on some street, or some news item, but it also haunts well educated and all classes and sections of families and society. As pessimist as I sound, I dont think some forms of discriminations will ever die.
It reminds me of the well enacted scene in 'Hum' by Amitabh Bachchan, who is drunk yet comes to warn his friend and uses an analogy of the cockroach to explain him an issue plaguing this society. There are two types of cockroaches he says, in this world. One that you see in the dirt and one in this society. The real cockroaches can be killed by the sprays, but unfortunately there are no sprays available for society cockroaches.
