PANEER!

We are not a huge fan of frozen meals. Somehow never got to liking it. In fact peas are the only vegetables I use frozen cos I am forced to as we dont get fresh 'peas'. Frozen parathas are our last absolute last back up at home. I cook fresh food everyday which is a challenge here in the US as you have to stock your grocery in advance unlike India where you will fnd it round the corner at a store. But I go the extra mile and make sure we use fresh veges except peas. I am sure it works well for some women and I respect that, never worked for us...

P really wanted to try Haldiram's paneer tikka and I wasnt so sure. I loveeeeee paneer so didnt want to take a chance of disliking a paneer dish BUT it was awesome. Totally recommend it hopefully they maintain the taste.

I, me, myself

No offence to anyone or anything, this is just a re-realization about me :-) ;)

After a considerable amount of travels, meet/greets, experiences I have realized that I am a good cook and a good hostess. All my family values have really worked well on this 'athithi devo bhavah' front I must say, special Thanks to my mother, my Ajji and my chickamma on that front.

Rakhi and her Swayamwar

I or rather ‘we’ have started watching Rakhi ka Swayamvar, almost reached the end and there is going to be just one last elimination (I am a little behind with this). It was entertaining and time pass. Youtube has it all, which is pretty cool. I used to abhor Rakhi but somehow it changed and now I just ignore her. I know Eelesh has won the swayamvar and yet I am watching it. Last few episodes that I have been watching, kind of got stupidly interesting and then to hear Manmohan Tiwari speak. If one has watched it you know what I mean - the Hindi! I am sure he will pick up some Bhojpuri movies or some telvision serial roles. I hope he does. DH hated it, but since the living room is without any television I was watching it on my laptop and he also kind of started following it.

I think she is the first one India to do this Swayamwar thing? Curious if it was an eligible bachelor looking for a wife, how the response would be? well India is not that conservative after all? (cannot generalize it, anyway). I think over all it was a decent production and didn't seem that cheap an imitation of the spouse search programs in America. Not that I have really followed such programs here.

Yawwwn!

I seriously master the art of lazying around. It comes so naturally to me. The clock keeps ticking and I would have wasted hours on the net or on the tele. Been doing it for past couple of days and not feeling guilty about it either. Today I am in a mood for hindi soaps, Zee being the only loser channel on Comcast I will while away watching the saans-bahu crap! Just for today and only today!

Therapeutic

Shopping is therapeutic indeed. Went to Eaton mall today, it's good that once you get off at the Dundas station you walk into the mall. After a not-so-impressive Vaughn Mills mall couple of weekends ago, this was a relief. Wanted to visit the 'Mango' store since ages, I wasnt impressed but I can check that off in my list of to-do things. I quite liked the Canadian 'Roots' store. Though limited stuff I liked it overall. A couple of other stores such as Zara and other European brand had better stuff here than in the US I thought. Or maybe since I havent checked the spring collection out in my Natick Mall near home as yet.....
I wonder what it is with shopping and choclate shake and me. I shop better or in better spirits when I am sipping choclate shake - this time it was Baskin Robbins.

High on life or publicity?

Paris Hilton finally got out of the prison. I wanted to watch her on Larry King Live yesterday but I got busy and didn't watch it. I just caught a glimpse of the program and this was when Larry King asked Paris what is the one thing she would like to change about herself/Paris? and she replies the way I laugh when I am nervous, apparently she gets a bit shrill, she said. I couldn't help but roll my eyes. She sat there with sadness in her eyes (or feigning sadness I should say?) and trying to look gloomy and weak and if all the rest of the responses were as dumb and hollow as that one - I don't think I missed anything. I have definitely been enjoying Jay Leno's comments on her! And apparently according to him the reason Larry King was wearing extra pair of suspenders yesterday at the interview was cos his wife forced him to cos he was the first man she (Paris) was meeting after getting out of prison LOL :)

BTW I happened to read that Eva Longoria is being paid 2 Mil for exclusive wedding pictures of her and Tony Parker at their wedding by some Ok! magazine. (Angelina I guess charged 4 Mil for the pictures of her daughter to be published if I am not wrong). I sincerely hope there is a law passed which requires such type of income to be donated to charity. I would like to call this social waste.
